Las Palmas Medical Center
The Procedures
Bariatric (Weight Loss) surgery is the only proven method of achieving long-term weight control for morbid obesity. It is ideally a treatment option for those who have not experienced long-term weight loss success through other means.
The Surgical Procedures
Surgical treatment is the only proven method of achieving long term weight control for the morbidly obese. Las Palmas Medical Center offers the following weight loss procedures: Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding and Laparoscopic or Open Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery. The laparoscopic approach utilizes multiple small incisions instead of a larger midline incision. Data shows that the laparoscopic technique results in less pain, a shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery for most patients. Because bariatric surgery is a medical necessity (not cosmetic), insurance companies may cover expenses.
